PROFERT™ products are simple to apply, there is no need for any special technical knowledge to achieve unbelievable results. THE pH STORY The AVAILABILITY of nutrients is largely determined by the pH of the soil or growing medium. Poor growth is not DIRECTLY a result of either acid or alkaline soils but due to the relatively poor availability of essential nutrients. The ability of plants to absorb nutrients varies quite dramatically depending on soil pH. In soils low in pH the major plant nutrients (N, P, K,Ca, Mg and S) and the trace element Molybdenum (Mo) are unavailable to plants or available only in limited quantities. All other trace elements may be available in such soils in quantities sufficient to be toxic A pH (measured in water) in the range of 5.5 to 6.5 is considered ideal for optimum growth of most plants. All essential nutrients are available to the plant within this range. Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn) and especially Aluminium (Al) are soluble in sufficient quantities to become toxic at the pH values below 5.0. At pH values greater than 6.5, the availability of some nutrients, especially Iron (Fe), Boron (B), Manganese (Mn), Copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn) are diminished. HIGH CONCENTRATION OF NUTRIENTS The Electrical Conductivity (E.C.) is a measure of the nutrient concentration. A solution of only 0.5% PROFERT™ A which, when applied into the root system, gives an electrical conductivity reading of 3.5 mS/cm, however some plants tolerate an unbelievable 10.0 mS/cm and more! PROFERT™ MARA is applied on the leaf (foliar) of the plant in the concentration of a very high 4.0 mS/cm and more. In current scientific terms the above concentrations are considered toxic. THE ECOLOGICAL SIDE Effective usage of all elements in PROFERT™ products helps to increase availability of nutrients stored in the ground or other medium. It prevents leaching of the nutrient into the lower parts of the pedosphere or medium and this is where PROFERT™ products play an important role in the protection of surrounding environment.
